Brother 5300 Universal Sewing Machine Carrying Case Reviews
Reviews By So.Cal. Sewist -- Delia : Date January 15, 2007
I have 4 of these cases. I like them because they are indeed larger and have extra 'nooks' for putting the extra accessories, foot pedal, manuals, extra books, material and sometimes a small sewing kit for when I take it to class.
The size is OK for my smaller White 2000 serger and lots of sewing accessories and material; also good for my Elna 744 serger (larger machine) with pedal and extra feet and manuals. If all you want is something just your machine's size, then better get the smaller Singer sewing case. Do some measuring to be sure. This case is for stand alone machine heads and not the type that needs to be attached with the 2 hinge pegs (for flatbed). I'm very happy with these cases for the above reasons.
UPDATE - 7 Aug 2012: In the past few years I have bought three more of these larger cases, one just this past April. So far, the quality has been the same in all of them, same thickness of plastic and the tops fit correctly into the bottom groove when locked into place -- lucky me considering how our world's cut-price/cut-quality mentality has ruined many a favorite item.
One of the machines housed in this case is an older, smaller metal sewing machine and it slides a bit. I put a piece of a spongy drawer liner in the bottom and that stopped the sliding. I still find it best to pack a few things around the machine. I wrap the controller (foot pedal) and cords in an old t-shirt to avoid scratching and that rag doubles as a wipe rag when needed. I keep the extra presser feet, bobbins and spare needles in a clear plastic cosmetic bag with the machine. The manual was downloaded from the internet, printed out and is housed in the case also. The home sewn sewing machine cover fits in there just fine. I keep a small portable sewing kit for when I haul this to classes and I add it to the case before loading the car. So far, every class sewing project (bag with fabric, lining, interfacing, zippers, thread, pattern) has fit inside with the machine (a large quilt would not, of course). I don't have issues with space so these store well for me.

I had read the reviews before purchasing this case to house my new Brother sewing machine. I knew it would probably be oversized. So, I saved the syrofoam bottom that my sewing machine came packed in, and it fit nicely into the Brother 5300 Universal Case bottom.

This case is really good, it fits my 1034D Brothe serger very nicely. The only thing I wish it has, is a compartment below the sewing machine, like with a little trap door or something.
