June Tailor Press-Mate 59-Inch-by-20-Inch Ironing Board Cover Reviews

Reviews By Robbin's Nest : Date February 7, 2012
I nearly didn't purchase this cover because of the review that said that it was just a piece of cloth that lays over the board. When I received mine, I initially thought that Richard was right. But upon a quick examination I found two draw strings that enable you to tighten this cover to any size, and snug it up nicely. I'm very happy with the purchase. As a sewer, I appreciate the grid markings on it, and the fact that it is not the typical silver reflective ironing surface that is the worst thing for tailoring and garment shaping. The duck cloth will absorb the extra steam, rather than send it back up into the garment, keeping it wet. Overall, I'm happy with the product.

The was perfect, I have an old house with a built in ironing board, this cover was long enough. I had a hard time finding one.

Reviews By dusty : Date April 24, 2013
So far, I love this cover. The dimensions look great and the fit was amazingly perfect. It seems well made and perfect for what I wanted to use it for. I am a quilter and I love it.

Reviews By R. A. Martin : Date January 30, 2013
My ironing board is a "mini" rather than standard size; I made it fit with the aid of the drawstring. I really use the printed grid especially for sewing projects. The "Monk" in me likes to keep things plumb and square!! The fabric is sturdy. I didn't want something shiny, silvery and smelly. This is like Grandma's--only better.

Thinking About Effective craft embroidery machine Products

It is a disconcerting fact that the needle was among human kind's first tools
Over the centuries it developed from your simple craft item towards the precision tool for modern sewing machines, constantly adapted for first time industrial applications and requirements
The utilization of sewing today will not stop at garments and furnishings, but is equally important for child car seats and airbags meeting high technical safety standards
The needle has played an important role in the development of our civilization and our standard of living
Ancient sewing needles , which go back to 28,000 BC, was lacking an eye but a split end which gripped the thread to become sewn (often raffia, gut or sinew)
Needles from later than 17,500 BC already had two features sign of the hand sewing needle today
The eye at one end along with the tapering point in the other end
They were created from materials available to human society in the time, by way of example bones and antlers
As people acquired skills in working metal materials, needles were also created from metal (Bronze Age approx
7000BC), first from copper, later from iron or bronze
Although there's no positive evidence as on the precise style of these needles , excellent components of embroidery from your pre-Christian era suggest that they were probably fashioned almost to perfection
Unfortunately the articles made out of these needles were only partially preserved high are barely any traces of the needles themselves
This is basically explained with the effect of oxidation, which destroys the metallic needles following a short time
Even the needles found in the 19 century are rarely found intact
The invention from the sewing machine gave rise for the development in the sewing machine needles
The basic form from the hand sewing needle remained the same, thought the amount of tapering and the variation with the diameter within the length of the needle were slightly altered within the course of time
In order being able to generate comparisons, one must study the needle looking at the very point out just below the eye
Al though the eye and point have moved closer together, since the basic functional elements from the needle, they remain unaltered
In 1755 a German named Weisenthal thought he had found the prerequisite for the machine sewing in his progression of a two-point needle
This needle form was also used down the road by Madersperger while others and it is even used nowadays in modern industrial machines for sewing shank buttons or imitating hand -made seams
An Englishman called Saint, for his machine designed in 1790, used a so-called hook needle or protruding needle much like today's single-chain, drop-stitch embroidery (Cornely), saddle-stitch and linking machines
Both kinds of needles however were of little importance for further progression of the new sewing machine needle
Around 1800, Balthasar Krems (Mayen, Germany) used, initially, a needle which had a watch moved close on the point
One should particularly understand why invention because one feature that looks so all to easy to us today was obviously a sensation during this time
This eye-point needle paved the way for the mechanism of sewing world-wide
Since then the new sewing machine needle may be developed on the form known today
The needle has accomplished its transition from hand tool for the precision tool of the sewing machine needle
The machine needle consist of various basic elements which are constantly arranged and rearranged in new needle designs to match the many fields of application
These basic elements include the needle shank, the needle blade with 1 or 2 grooves and the needle point with eye
Numerous ways these can be combined result in the very comprehensive choice of embroidery and sewing machine needles available today
The start clear embroidery design registration begins with a high quality embroidery needle
The 3 major commercial  manufacturers competing for the business are , Organ, and
I believe embroiderers in general will be delighted by any of these commercial embroidery needles
That being said there are several differences you need to be educated on with regards to the basic manufacturing process for chrome embroidery needles
Keep at heart titanium (yellow in color) coated commercial embroidery needles and Teflon coated (greenish or dull grey) commercial embroidery needles come with an extra process applied to a chrome embroidery needle
Prior to purchasing new embroidery needles check if the style of your embroidery machine is ideal for flat shank embroidery needles
There are some hybrid embroidery machines out there that are sold as commercial embroidery machines and employ a flat shank needle ()
Knowing these records prior to buying embroidery supplies stop ordering headaches within the future
Do you wish to get into machine embroidery, but just don't know best places to start
About four years ago, I purchased my first embroidery machine, and I are actually hooked on the art ever since
I've slowly built a library of designs and I've learned how to hoop, stabilize, and choose the right thread
I started by researching the range of embroidery machines available, many of which also do standard sewing
Machines are priced anywhere from $400 around many thousands
Search the Internet or see your local Sew Vac or fabric store for a demonstration
Choose a device based upon how much embroidery you would like to do and what your financial allowance will allow
To tell the truth, I felt weird about using machine embroidery at first
I wanted to become the designer and I didn't want to depend upon another person's creativity to make my work look beautiful
Then, I discovered that I had a great deal of choices and I couldn't resist the designs that are available
I found quilt embroideries used to quilt blocks within the hoop and get better results than using free-motion or even a long arm machine
I found a number of vintage looks in redwork, bluework, and in many cases lace which you embroider on a dissolvable stabilizer inside thread color that will fit your project best
Of course there are several modern detailed designs in each and every theme from babies and youngsters to holidays and weddings
While most sites sell artwork which can be picked up by many digitizers, some sites selling machine embroidery files for example SWAK Embroidery and You Can Make This also provide designs from original hand-drawn art
This ensures that those designs are only able to be purchased from sites and therefore, you'll not see them just anywhere
One wonderful thing about embroidery designs is because have a color palette selected for you in advance, however, you can also adjust the colours to your specifications by choosing from color families and tones
Filled designs are the ones made up of all embroidered stitches
designs let you choose fun fabrics to incorporate your own artistic expression to the finished product
If you are making some cute cropped pants, but desire a matching shirt, find an appliqu
design for any tee shirt and rehearse the fabric from the pants inside appliqu
Some designs are very versatile in this a change of thread color could make the design benefit any occasion
Take a balloon design and rehearse thread inside your child's favorite colors
Makes realistic looking oak leaves in any color-palette from spring yellows and greens to fall reds, browns, and oranges
Change the shades in a cute cheerleader design or collegiate alphabet to match your school colors
Even merge two designs or add lettering with a design to generate it yours, with your embroidery machine or digitizing software
What could possibly be better than to get able to generate a professional looking embroidery design either on ready-to-wear or hand sewn clothing, quilts, or any other projects
Even build a business for yourself by creating embroidered items for others
Personalized burp cloths make great baby shower or new mom gifts
They are easy to create yourself and can be done in your own home
A decorated burp cloth produces a great gift for a new baby
They are useful gifts, with thoughtful and personal touches combined with them
They can be found, but they're easy to generate on your personal
Here are a few ideas on how you can make decorated burp cloths in your house
These are rectangular components of cotton, usually with four layers plus a panel of eight layers on the middle
These are excellent burp cloths since they are soft and absorbent
They will shrink considerably when they're washed and dried, so throw them inside the washing machine and dryer a few times to generate sure they may be fully shrunken
This may also help the cloth diapers to succeed in their full absorbency
One method to decorate the burp cloth is to add a decorative part of fabric towards the middle panel of the prefold
You can use any fabric you want, though a printed flannel and other cotton material will add absorbency on the burp cloth
Cut the pad into a rectangle, adding half and inch to an inch around for sewing
Fold both in sides and something end to adjust to the burp cloth, iron flat, then pin in place
Fold inside the last end in to suit the panel exactly and iron flat and pin
Topstitch the pad all around to secure it to the prefold
You only need to incorporate fabric to 1 side, nevertheless, you can choose to do both sides if you wish
Another strategy to personalize a burp cloth is to embroider the child's name on it
This can easily be performed even lacking any embroidery machine
Use a washable fine tipped pen to write the baby's name about the lower corner from the prefold
Then utilizing a needle and colored thread, go in the pen using short stitches
The back side in the stitching may not be as neat as the front, and the name will likely be backwards, so you will have to pay for it
You are able to use an applique and simply sew it on on the stitching
You could also use a piece of fabric to pay the entire back from the prefold
Measure the printed fabric, fold inside edges, and sew all around
A third way to produce your own decorative burp cloth is by using ribbons or lace
You can give a piece of lace or a wide ribbon on the edge of the prefold
You also can place the lace or ribbon about an inch or two over the edge for the different look
If you've got narrower ribbon, you are able to sew them onto either side of the middle panel as well
A decorated burp cloth is really a useful gift to offer a new mom
She should go through many burp cloths, so why don't you make her an adorable one to carry around
A personalized burp cloth can easily be made at home by using a prefold cloth diaper plus some fabric, ribbon, or lace

Gathering Foot Reviews

Reviews By Shadnee : Date March 5, 2012
I've only had this foot for a month and a half, and I've already used it on several projects. It's easy to use once you get your stitch length and tension set the way you like it. And it gathers uniformly. My only complaint is that the foot didn't come with any paperwork what so ever... no instructions, tip, tricks, nothing. I tried to find a tutorial online to get it all figured out with no luck, and ended up just messing with it for a few hours before I figured out what worked well. Also, make note that the tension and stich length is different for different types of fabrics, so you have to play around with it each time you want to use a different fabric.

Reviews By Steve Loman : Date February 5, 2013
First one I bought that said it would fit didn't so I found this one.

Reviews By pamnatedog : Date March 5, 2013
I love how this works.e
Only reason I held back a star is because it comes as is no instructions.
Adding it to the machine is easy but understanding to use it is not so much.
youtube has some videos of people using it but not really telling how to can the gather and such.

Reviews By Teacup Fashions : Date February 16, 2013
My sewing machine is an older model from Sears (New Home 672) from the 1970's. This Gathering Foot fits my machine perfectly. Very easy to use. Simply slide your fabric into the foot, and magically you'll end up with a gathered piece of material.

Fiskars 9521 45mm Contour Rotary Cutter Reviews

Reviews By Paige Borgeson : Date September 8, 2011
In this video review I cut a number of things with the cutter and review the cutting mat that I purchased at the same time.

I gave this cutter 4 stars because it did everything I expected as well as I expected and nothing more.

Reviews By Rose S : Date April 13, 2009
I had the opportunity to try the Olfa and the Fiskar rotary cutters from a friend who had both. After trying them for about 15 minutes, I decided I preferred the Fiskar cutter. The Olfa was okay and worked well, but the Fiskar cutter felt better ergonomically. The Fiskar handle was curved, sturdier with a better grip. I don't care for the straight cutters. Another friend also preferred the Fiskar cutter. We all decided Fiskar cutter was the best ergonomically, but will probably buy the Olfa blades. I hope this helps for those who may be on the border between the two. I rate it 4 stars because the blade is better on the Olfa.

Reviews By Roland Pouliot : Date July 3, 2006
I bought this cutter for use in bookbinding and papermaking projects. It cuts paper, even up to 240 gsm quickly and precisely. Using this cutter, a large framing square, and a sheet of plywood gives nearly the same results as a regular paper cutter, but provides more flexibility. I cannot comment on the durability of the blade, but if it is like other Fiskar products, I am sure I will be pleased.

Reviews By Bonnie Stearns : Date October 25, 2011
I bought this rotary cutter in 1996 to make my daughter's wedding dress. After that I took up quilting and this cutter has done a wonderful job for me on almost every cutting task for >15 years. Recently the retraction button snapped off -- no surprise that plastic got brittle after that long. I bought an identical cutter to replace my old favorite. While tossing the packaging I happened to see the lifetime warranty on the back. I wrote to Fiskars on their web site to ask if my old product carried the same warranty. They didn't need to see the broken cutter... they just sent me a new one. Great product, great company, GREAT customer service. I recommend this comfortable cutter to all my quilting friends. Regarding reviewers who said the blade retracts spontaneously, I suspect this was due to unintentionally allowing their thumb to lean or press against the retraction button. Keep the thumb on the thumb rest atop the cutter and that problem disappears.

3M Scotch Photo Corners Self Adhesive 250/Box, Clear Reviews

Reviews By Tony Hewitt : Date March 5, 2010
From the box, it was a little unclear how these are constructed. I was fearing that they were simply small triangular pieces of tape. But they are indeed small "tape" pockets (or sleeves) that do not stick to your photos.

They appear to stick very well to paper and are very easy to use. I used the built-in "applicator" and affixed them to all four corners of the photo then simply aligned my photo to the paper I wanted to attach it to. The Photo Corners have enough friction to keep them from falling off as you are aligning them. I was very happy to find this product, and as the other reviewer mentioned, they are much less distracting than the old black ones (which is what I was originally looking for).

Reviews By peaben : Date December 17, 2010
I've used corners from several manufacturers. The ones from Scotch are more expensive but well worth the extra money.

Reviews By Scott : Date December 5, 2010
After all, stamps are little pictures. I place one on opposite corners of the stamp and lower it into place on pages I make with computer and printer. WordPerfect works well. These corners are clear and acid free. All items used in stamp collecting need to be acid free archival quality. After the stamps are arranged and placed on the page, I slip them into Avery sheet protectors and then into quality binders. Stamps arranged and protected without paying big for stamp albums and expensive stamp mounts. I do not waste the photo corners on used stamps unless they are old and valuable. Currently the photo corners reviewed here are $3.00 at Wal*Mart.

Great product. Good thing it was wrapped in plastic as the mail carrier set the box in the rain.

Reviews By Dana12 : Date September 19, 2012
I'm sticking with Vilene. Sulky Super Solvy isn't good for freestanding lace at all. In spite of a new needle and proper tension it got holes in it and created a tangled mess under the plate. I hope I have better luck using it on t-shirts or towels, if not then it's a total waste. The one star I gave it is for the hope I have that I can use it in other ways.

Update: I've discovered that I can use it with two layers and it works wonderfully. I also discovered I was using a badly digitized design. The digitizing makes all the difference in the world. I will be buying more.

Reviews By H. Wolfe : Date August 29, 2013
I asked one of my friends why her applique and embroidery looked more professional than mine. She sent me a link to this product, saying that it would keep the stitches from sinking into the fabric. And it does-- I use it on top of the fabric (I use a tear-away stabilizer on back), anchored in the hoop. It is so water-soluble that the tiniest spritz from a spray-bottle makes it dissolve, so there's no effort to getting the scraps off.
