Embroidery Machine Essentials - Basic Techniques: Jeanine Twigg's Companion Project Series #1 Reviews

Reviews By Gail Rodgers : Date April 1, 2003
I just received this book in the mail today and sat down and literally devoured the information. I have had a home embroidery sewing machine for years. Just today with getting this book and Embroidery Machine Essentials: How to Stablilize, Hoop and Stitch Decorative Designs, I have finally had many of my questions and problems adressed. I can hardly wait to try out the many ideas and use the designs on the CD in many creative ways. I expect a huge improvement in my machine embroidery with the information I received from this book. This book contains many pictures and diagrams of all the techniques being featured. The best part was how the author showed the multiple ways you could use one design to extend your design/sewing capabilities.

I got this book to get me started in embroidery because in the title it said, "Basic Techniques". Really, her first book (which I got *AFTER* I got this one) is better for that. That said, it is a super book. There are super pictures, and she explains all the techniques very well. This book goes into more detail of how to do specialized embroidery projects. At first I was disappointed, because it was so thin. But it is filled with information. There is not too much repetition from her first book. If you have to choose only one of her books, then get the first one. If you are ready to do more advanced work, then move onto this one. It will put more umph into your embroidery.

The book also has a CD with a bunch of designs on it. I like the varity of the designs. She also explains very well how to tweak the designs and combine them to totally change the looks. So you really are getting a lot of information and designs for your money. Overall, I would recommend this book.

A great follow-up to Embroidery Machine Essentials. Clearly written and easy-to-follow instructions. If you know the basics and want to progress, this is a great project-driven book to invest in to work on your techniques.
