Machine Embroidered Quilting and Applique: Simple Steps for Revolutionary Results Reviews

I love this book - it has something for everyone. I have completed a couple of the projects & can't be happier. Being able to achieve this level of detail with a 'homemade' project is inherently gratifying. It almost feels like cheating; however since you get to pick the fabric and 'tweak' the project it is not cheating - just using a great tool, right;)

As to the tweaking; since my hoop is a 6.5 x 10.5, when I can, I've been enlarging the patterns to get the most bang for my buck. For instance, with the heart pin cushion, I simply enlarged the same. When I get the time to tackle a quilt - I also anticipate resizing the pattern and / or embroidering names or sayings on the blocks. Again, the result is very professional, homemade &, if you want, custabmizable.

I love the projects in this book. First I made the coasters. They went together perfectly. I am now working on Lady Liberty Quilt. There are many errors in the poorly written and difficult to read instructions. From trimming pieces to the finished size rather than unfinished size, neglecting to say the design on one of the spike borders on each side has to be "flipped" so the spikes and mid-border meet in the center as pictured in the book, and referring to the horizontal borders as vertical and vice versa has made this project more difficult than it needs to be.

I'd like to buy this book but the information given doesn't say what size hoop is required. I just bought my first embroidery machine and am excited about trying it out. I just need to know if my machine is compatible before I purchase the book.
